A group of 5 randomly selected pieces from our Field Grade "B" artifact bins. These come from artifact collections found in various areas across the United States. This grade consists of a variety of types including projectile points, knives, blades, preforms, scrapers, drills, and other miscellaneous tools. They range from 500-10,000 years old and about 1"-4" in length. Grade "B" artifacts are generally more crude, damaged, smaller, and made of lower quality materials than the Grade "A" category. The examples shown are typical of the artifacts in this grade, and while often not the most aesthetically pleasing, they are an invaluable study resource. Handling and examining Field Grade artifacts of known authenticity is one of the best ways for new collectors to learn about flaking styles, patina, and materials before investing in higher grade artifacts.
